In the ATLAS collaboration, combined performance groups (CP groups or CPGs) are mainly responsible for providing algorithms for reconstruction, identification, and measurement of physics objects. The tools and methods developed by the CP groups are provided to the ATLAS analysis teams in the form of software, instructions, and recommendations. The CP groups also study and provide information about the performance of their tools, such as validity ranges, efficiencies and scale factors.
In a wider sense, the ATLAS groups providing such things as event simulation, statistical methods, and machine learning are also sometimes called CP groups.
