Jargon is a particular language that is used within a group and may not be well understood outside of it. In particular, it often reserves a special meaning for words that have a different meaning outside of the group.
One aim of Hepman is to explain jargon and translate it to expressions that are more suitable for an audience that is less specialised in the particular topic.
